HES has designed and manufactured automatic test equipment (ATE) either as stand alone machines or as part of much larger machines.  The machines can be manually or automatically loaded to suit the product and the quantities produced.  Often, when only small throughputs are required a semi-auto test/inspection rig is produced allowing an operator to, say, press fit components together and test the assembly for operation before allowing it to be removed.

As far as possible poka-yoke principles (mistake proofing) are used when designing the equipment.   A poka-yoke device is one that prevents incorrect parts from being made or assembled, or easily identifies a flaw or error.

Optic Test Rig  This machine automatically tests and pass marks Alcohol Optic Dispensers.  The machine is based around an eight station indexing table with eight operational stations.  The optics are manually loaded and then one seal is checked using an air pressure decay leak tester.  The optic is then progressively filled and emptied with water to check the operation, seals and volume dispensed.  If it passes all of the tests then a crown stamp is hot foil printed and a batch code ink printed onto the side of the optic.  Test data is sent to a central computer for storage and analysis.
